Aurora Aksnes was born on 15 June 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. She is professionally known as Aurora and occasionally stylized using lowercase letters, such as AURORA. Her debut E.P. Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music is when she discovered a grand piano that was in the attic. It was awe-inspiring to see the possibilities it offered. Parents May-Britt along with Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to study music, not for an occupation or pastime but for growth. As a result, she started writing songs of her own. She credits Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, along with Bjork as being her influences. She decided to start performing her songs publicly when her mom suggested they can help other people, not be famous with her music, but rather to help those around them see the importance of their work and how they impact the world. She was suggested by her mother to be able to perform her music publicly in order so that people can see their own importance and how they impact the world. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known by her family until she turned fourteen. Aurora wasn't a childhood dream. She says she just likes writing songs. According to her music, it is the most efficient means of communicating anything.
